Blue-Eyed Boy of Matamoras
Based on a true story, “Blue-Eyed Boy of Matamoras” tells the story of a 7-year-old blonde-haired, blue-eyed boy kidnapped by his father and taken across the border to live on the streets of Matamoras in the name of religious piousness.
During a simple country church service in Georgia, Albert takes his son, Mark, to the restroom – and doesn’t return. Mark’s mother and their community frantically engage in a desperate man-hunt that leaves them empty-handed. It’ll be more than 7 years before anyone hears from or about Mark again.
During those 7-years, Albert – an unbending religious man who believes in poverty for the gospel – takes Mark across the border to live so he can preach on the corners of the streets of Mexico. Even through Albert’s misguided beliefs, God still proves miraculously faithful in providing shelter, food and protection as the duo navigate the streets and prisons of the Mexican ghetto struggling to survive.
